Our unique curriculum includes a comprehensive set of outcome-based guidelines that combine ballet principles with knowledge of kinesiology and injury prevention. It combines the best from respected ballet traditions and promotes a pure classical ballet technique. This gives our students the ability to easily adapt to different styles of choreography and techniques of dance.

We believe that ballet is the foundation of all dance. Our class sizes are small enough to facilitate one-on-one attention and help the students clearly understand the training concepts.

At CIAoD, we also believe performing is an important aspect of a student’s training. We rarely use class time for rehearsing. We feel that class time is best used for learning and improving dance technique. Additional performance opportunities exist through Central Indiana Dance Ensemble, our resident pre-professional company.

Central Indiana Academy of Dance does not have a competition dance team. Our emphasis is dance training and performing in concert venues. Although we are not a competition school, Academy students interested in doing so may compete individually. For those interested in coaching and choreography sessions can be arranged based on availability. Many of our Academy students have been successful in Youth America Grand Prix. The school approaches the YAGP, not as a competition, but as an opportunity to intensify a dancer's confidence on stage and fine-tune their stage presentations
